ABOUT FREE TO PLAY

The University of San Francisco Athletic Department announced today they are joining the movement against modern day slavery and will become abolitionists as members of the Free to Play Movement.

Free to Play is part of the Not For Sale movement. It means children should be free to be alive, free to be a child. Athletes, teams, lovers of the outdoors, and all active individuals are coming together to use their passions and gifts to stand up in the fight against slavery.

"We are proud to declare ourselves as abolitionists against modern day slavery and believe children should be Free to Play," said USF Executive Director of Athletics Debra Gore-Mann. "Our teams will each have team challenges in which they will set goals that will bring about more awareness of slavery and give back to children in the community. And we are encouraging our student-athletes to set their own personal goals to aid the awareness of modern day slavery. 27 million people are enslaved today,80 percent of them women and children."
