Ron Shinault was appointed the Director of Sports Medicine at USF in July of 2008 and brings a wealth of experience to the posting.

A 2001 graduate from the University of Georgia with a BSeD in Exercise Science, Shinault collected his MS in Sports Administration from Florida State in 2003. During his two seasons at FSU, Shinault worked primarily with the Seminoles football program.

After completing his Master's, he returned to Athens for two seasons at his alma mater, serving as the Assistant Athletic trainer and covered the Bulldogs men's basketball squad. Shinault left Georgia and started at USF in the Fall of 2006.

Other work experience include work with the New England Patriots, Athletes in Action basketball team during the 2006 Jones Cup Tournament in Taipei, Taiwan and served on the training staff of the US Soccer U-15 National Team. Shinault also served as the head athletic trainer of the USL-1 California Victory professional soccer franchise.

While at USF, Shinault has served as the primary athletic trainer for the USF men's soccer program and men's basketball. Shinault moves into the director position with the departure of Rebecca Cisek, who moved to the East Coast to be closer to her family and complete her PHD requirements.

Shinault is a certified athletic trainer (ATC) and member of the National Association of Athletes Trainers (NATA) as well as serving as a mentor for the Ethnic Diversity Advisory Council. The Georgia native enjoys adventure travel, leading a student ministry, and eating new foods in his spare time.
