San Francisco Athletics Celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month With “Pink Week”
(San Francisco) - San Francisco Athletics will celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month with two special events hosted by women’s soccer and volleyball. The Dons will host two pink matches where both teams will showcase their support in the fight against breast cancer by wearing pink during pregame and during the contest.
USF women’s soccer hosts perennial national power and defending West Coast Conference champion Portland Sunday, October 23 at Negoesco Stadium. Kickoff against the Pilots is set for 1:00 PM.
Women’s Soccer Event Notes
A raffle will be held for the following items:
- Pink soccer ball autographed by both teams
- Pink-themed basket donated by American Cancer Society
Both items will be displayed at the front entrance of Negoesco Stadium with proceeds benefiting the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Foundation"
In Addition:
- Pink bracelets will be distributed to kids
- Pink shoelaces will be worn by USF team
Dons Volleyball hosts new WCC member Brigham Young Thursday, October 27 for its annual “Dig Pink” match. After the Dons battle the Cougars at 6:00 PM at War Memorial Gym, the team will host a Cupcake and Champagne Reception in the Bill Russell Room.
Volleyball Event Notes
- A raffle for fabulous prizes will be available with proceeds benefiting the Sideout Organization that supports Cancer Research and Resources
- Taste test cupcakes from some of the best cupcake bakeries in San Francisco, while sipping champagne
- Pink shirts will be warm worn by USF during warm-ups
