The San Francisco Dons finished their international trip with another victory against a Mexican Semi-Pro All-Star team, 95-40. The Dons shot out of the gates early with a 28-0 run in the first 12 minutes. The All-Stars showed signs of life with a run of their own after a long-range 3-pointer rattled in to get them on the board. However, the Dons quickly extended their lead to 32 points by half time.
Tim Derksen matched his point total from Game 1 with 20 points, including 10 straight points at the beginning of the 2nd half. The Dons were also able to get interior scoring from Cole Dickerson and Frank Rogers, who each contributed 12 points.
Dickerson had a solid all around performance, collecting three blocked shots on the defensive end as well as two baseline dunks. Gavin Hoffmann rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points.
At the conclusion of the game both teams said their goodbyes and paid their respects by trading game jerseys. The hosts also presented this year's Dons with t-shirts to commemorate the trip.
The Dons will finally get some rest and relaxation on the beach this morning before heading back to San Francisco this evening.
Joe Edmonds Blog Entry - Day Three:
Fellow Dons-
Hope the Bay Area (or wherever you are) is treating you well. We just finished our last game in Cancun and once again won.
This has been an amazing experience and the team has really come together. Although we are nowhere near where we plan to be at the start of the 2012-13 season, all our guys played hard and unselfishly all week.
This has been a great experience and we thank all of you who have supported us and will continue to support us.
Although we are young, we play hard and like we have nothing to lose. I hope we can display this attitude and grit come November. We plan to enjoy our last night in paradise lounging by the beach and getting our legs back underneath us.
Thank you again for all of your support and generosity- the team truly appreciates it. Now it is time to get ready for the season!

The San Francisco Dons men's basketball team won again in Cancún last night as they defeated La Rebotera de Cancún 96-60.
Cody Doolin led all scorers with 14 points, followed by De'End Parker's 13-point effort. Mark Tollefsen and Tim Derksen each scored 12 points, while Gavin Hoffmanncontributed 11. Tollefsen impressed the Cancún crowd with a high-flying dunk down the lane on a fastbreak in the first half.
La Rebotera, playing in their hometown, ended the game with a 14-5 run. The hometown crowd was pleased to see them compete down the stretch. After the game, the local children took every opportunity to take photos with the Dons, who were happy to oblige their newly discovered fans.
The Dons will be tested tonight in the last game of the trip vs. Pioneros De Quintana Roo.
"I've been pleased with the team's performance here and feel that a trip like this was truly needed for such a young team," Head Coach Rex Walters said. "Thanks go out to all of the Athletic Department as well as Charlie Cross for allowing our Basketball Dons to try and come together as a team."
Joe Edmonds Blog Entry - Day Two:
Hello again!
It was a fun day in Cancun. We began with a team breakfast and then departed for our shoot around. The temperature is reaching triple digits and the humidity is pretty intense, but we are really enjoying our time here. After shoot around we had our pregame meal and got taped before our game. Because of the heat, it is hard to spend more than thirty minutes or so outside during the day so most of our time is spent staying off our feet and preparing for our games.
We left for our game around 4:00 p.m. and headed to play Cancun's local professional team. We won, but as always there is room for improvement. It was a good learning experience. The team was anxious for our first game with eachother. After the game, we came back to the hotel and ate then had a few hours to ourselves to spend relaxing beachside and at the pool.
As always, we appreciate the support and look forward to getting in front of our fans and playing hard, team basketball.
Check back in tomorrow for more details!

Joe Edmonds Blog Entry - Day One:
Hello Dons Fans-
As many of you know we are currently in Cancun, Mexico playing in our international tour permitted by the NCAA. My name is Joe Edmonds, and I am an incoming freshman for the Dons this upcoming year. I will be blogging about our experience here to give all of you fans an in depth look into how our trip is going.
We began our trip leaving from campus at 5:45 am and made our way to SFO where our flight took off at 8:45 am. The majority of my flight was spent sleeping, but near the end of our six-hour trek Tim Derksen, Gavin Hoffman, and I watched a movie and enjoyed some team bonding.
The team is very excited at the prospect of playing against professional teams from Mexico, and as we headed to our shoot around that night the energy was high. We had a spirited and focused shoot around and dinner. Then the whole team capped off the night and went down to the beach and relaxed after our day of traveling.
The team is coming together much quicker than expected, and we hope that we can put it together on the court and produce results. We are a hard-working team and are looking forward to starting our journey here in Cancun.
Thanks again and check back later!
