SAN FRANCISCO – Two USF athletic teams earned perfect scores of 1,000 while six others produced scores of 991 or higher in the ninth annual Academic Progress Rate statistics released today by the NCAA.
USF's men's and women's indoor track teams earned perfect 1,000 scores. Both squads were recognized with public recognition awards last week for producing APRs in the top 10 percent of their respective sports.
Six other Don programs – men's cross country (996), men's tennis (992), men's outdoor track (996), women's cross country (996), women's tennis (991) and women's volleyball (994) registered scores of 991 or higher.
All told, more than half of USF's athletic programs improved their APR scores from a year ago.
APR scores are a measure of classroom performance of student athletes on every Division I team based on eligibility and retention for each semester or quarter. The data is based on a combination of scores and a series of formulas over a four-year period starting with the 2008-09 academic year.
In 2012-13, a total of 41 USF student-athletes received All-West Coast Conference academic recognition, including six who earned Capital One All-Academic honors either on a regional or national level.
