University of San Francisco's head women's basketball coach Jennifer Azzi, who led Stanford to two Pac-10 Conference championships and the first NCAA women's basketball championship in school history, is one of six former student-athletes who will receive the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award for their collegiate and professional achievements.

The Silver Anniversary Award annually recognizes distinguished individuals on the 25th anniversary of the conclusion of their college athletics careers. Representatives of NCAA member schools and conferences, along with a panel of distinguished former student-athletes, select each year's recipients.

The 2015 recipients include Azzi, Brent Lang (Michigan; swimming & diving), Pellom McDaniels (Oregon State; football), Bernard Muir (Brown; basketball), Mike Mussina (Stanford; baseball) and Tamyra Rogers (Oklahoma; women's basketball). The NCAA will recognize the honorees at the Honors Celebration during the 2015 NCAA Convention on Jan. 16 in the Washington, D.C. area.

A four-year team captain and two-time Women's Basketball Coaches Association Kodak All-American at Stanford, Azzi was named the Naismith Player of the Year in 1990 and received the Wade Trophy and Honda-Broderick Award. she finished her Stanford career as the school's eighth all-time leading scorer (1,634), tied for ninth in points per game (13.4) and seventh in three-pointers made (191). She also graduated as the Cardinal's all-time assist and steals leader. Azzi still sits 10th in NCAA history for career three-point field goal percentage (45.2).

In 1996 in Atlanta, she earned an Olympic gold medal with the U.S. women's basketball team, and she was an alternate for both the 1992 and 2000 Olympic teams. She played professional basketball for 11 years, including four years in the WNBA, where she finished her career as the league's 3-point field goal leader. She is a member of the Stanford University Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. She continues to work as an WNBA International Ambassador and motivational speaker, conducting seminars for Fortune 500 companies such as Coca Cola, Disney, McDonalds, Nike, and Proctor & Gamble, to name a few.
