SAN FRANCISCO –– USF sophomore Frédérique Latraverse will compete in the Canadian Cross Country Championships this Saturday in Kingston, Ontario. Latraverse will take the starting line for the Senior 8K meet at 10:45 a.m. PT.
The Quebec, Canada native has previously competed at the Quebec Provincial Championships and the Canadian Championships but this will be her first 8000M race at the national level. With a strong enough mark on Saturday, Latraverse will earn a qualification spot for the Canadian team at the 2016 Pan American Cross Country Championships.
Located on Fort Henry, the course will feature four, 2K loops on a flat, grass terrain.
The race will feature a very talented field, including Rachel Hannah, the defending champion. Both Natasha Wodak of Vancouver, B.C. and Lanni Marchant from London, Ont. are the favorites to challenge Hannah on Saturday. Marchant took the bronze medal in the 10,000M at the Pan American Games while Wodak is currently the 10,000M Canadian record holder.
