The Gators block 5.5 attempts per night, with Kiara Ginwright averaging 3.4 blocks a game

Series Snippits
The Dons hold the 8-3 advantage in the all-time series with the last meeting coming during the 1999-2000 season, a 67-58 home victory for USF. The Dons are 6-2 on the Hilltop when facing the Gators, with the first win in the series coming in 1976-77.

Last Time Out
Lock-down defense and lights-out shooting was on full display at Walter Pyramid by the visiting San Francisco women's basketball team. The Dons turned in a dominating performance at Long Beach State, coming away with the 66-52 road victory on Dec. 8.

A stout opponent at home, the 49ers entered the contest with a .716 winning percentage at Walter Pyramid in the last five seasons. The stingy defensive-minded Long Beach squad was rated in the top-30 nationally in scoring defense and turnover margin, but the Dons flipped the script.

The USF offense dissected the Long Beach defense, hitting 12 3-pointers in the game, including a school record-tying mark of seven three for junior Rachel Howard. As a team, the Dons shot 47.1 percent from the field, and made 12 of its 21 attempts from beyond the arc.

She led the team on the stat sheet, finishing with 26 points on 60 percent shooting and four assists. Her seven 3-pointers matches a USF single-game record that has been on the books for nearly two decades, equaling performances by Andrea Kagie (at San Diego, 02/08/97) and Amy Touli (Northwestern State, 12/19/92).

Howard was not the only one on fire from the field, as senior Taylor Proctor was a perfect 4-for-4 from distance and 8-for-12 on the night. The senior from Colorado Springs, Colo., notched her fifth double-double of the season and flirted with the triple-double finishing with 20 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.

30 for 32
Taylor Proctor has been on a scoring tear to start the season, with two 30-point games thus far. Against Utah Valley on Nov. 23, she recorded a career-high 39 points. Her tally stands tied as the second-best single game performance in school history even with USF Hall of Famer Mary Hile-Nepfel's mark against Pepperdine in 1979, and three points shy of Teri Hunt's 42 points against San Diego on Jan. 31, 1987.

On Dec. 4 in the Dons' victory against UC Riverside, she went off for 32 points to lead the squad. In USF's 1,116 games played in the history of the program, the 30-point mark has only been eclipsed 36 times, and Proctor is one of seven women to record multiple 30-point games.

Other multi-game 30-point scorers:
Mary Hile (9), Dominique Carter (4), Valerie Gillon (2), Teri Hunt (4), Linda Walsh (2), Margaret Walsh (2)

Multi-game 30-point scorers in a single season:
Mary Hile (5 in 87-89), Mary Hile (3 in 77-78), Teri Hunt (3 in 85-86), Dominique Carter (2 in 07-08),  Linda Walsh (2 in 82-83), Margaret Walsh (2 in 85-86)

NCAA Active Career Leaders
Taylor Proctor currently ranks 35th among active Division I scoring leaders (1,418 points). She also ranks in the top-40 among active players in field goals (529/29th) and double-doubles (21/34th). Fellow senior Zhane Dikes rates 18th in NCAA Division I in career free throw attempts (476) and 24th in makes (346).

USF Record-Setters
The duo both grace USF's 1,000-point scoring list of 21 women, and Proctor is also a member of the 500-rebound club. Dikes needs four more boards to join her in reaching both milestones.

Currently, Proctor is seventh in all-time scoring and fifth in rebounds. She is one of five women to rate in the top-10 in both categories, and with 34 points she will join career leader Mary Hile-Nepfel as the second woman to reach the top five in both points and rebounds.

Individually, Rachel Howard etched her name in the record books after swishing seven 3-pointers at Long Beach State. The seven triple mark in a game ties Andrea Kagie (at San Diego, 02/08/97) and Amy Touli (Northwestern State, 12/19/92).

On the Offensive
Under the tutelage of one of the best point guards to play the game, the Dons have improved their offensive output and team mentality of sharing the ball and assisting the shooter.

In the year previous to Azzi's arrival on the Hilltop, the Dons shot .338 from the field, .308 from 3-point range and averaged 9.8 assists per game. Currently, the Dons are connecting on 46.6 percent of their attempts, and hitting threes at a rate of 37.8 percent. USF is leading the WCC in assists per game with 18.2.

A Peek at Plus-Minus
With the hot start for the Dons, eight women have a positive plus-minus figure with Rachel Howard's +13.1/game leading the squad. Zhane Dikes (+9.2) and Taylor Proctor (+9.1) round out the top trio. Looking and plus/minus per 40 minutes, Howard, Dikes and Proctor are joined by Claudia Price and Michaela Rakova with a double-digit positive figure.

From the Tip
With Taylor Proctor jumping from the circle, the Dons have won nine of the first 10 tips of the season, only losing the opening possession in USF's season-opener at North Texas.

Claudia Price has been the recipient of the tip five times, Zhane Dikes started the first possession on three occasions, and Anna Seilund received the ball from Proctor once.

War Memorial at The Sobrato Center
Silicon Valley philanthropist and real estate developer John A. Sobrato and his wife Susan have made an historic gift of $15 million to the University of San Francisco, the largest gift from individuals in the institution's history.

The gift will support USF's first-ever master plan for athletic facilities, renovate the 60-year old War Memorial Gymnasium, and help USF uphold its tradition of excellence in Division 1 athletics. The multi-use facility will be named The Sobrato Center and will feature a new club level with preferred seating that also bears the Sobrato name.

"As a real estate developer, I like to build things," Sobrato said. "When I saw War Memorial Gym, I asked myself: Why don't we modernize this building, bring in the natural light, and make it a much more inviting place not only for athletics but also for all campus events. It's going to be a great looking building when we're done."

Jumping Ahead
The Dons open conference play hosting long-time rival Saint Mary's on Monday, Dec. 21 before heading to Stockton to take on Pacific on Wednesday. After the Christmas holiday, USF will ring in the New Year on the road, playing Gonzaga on Dec. 31 and taking on Portland on Jan. 2.
