Marquill Smith, a 6-4, 170 lb. guard from Miami, Fla., has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at the University of San Francisco next season.

Smith, who attends Miami Christian High School where he played for head coach Andrew Moran, averaged 22.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists as a senior, helping the Victors to the Florida 2A state championship with a 71-44 victory over Orlando Agape Christian, the school's first state title since 2002. Dade County's Player of the Year, Smith was also selected as Florida's Dairy Farmers Class 2A Player of the Year and was one of nine finalists for Florida's Mr. Basketball award. He was also named to the all-tournament team at the talent-rich 2014 Orange Bowl Boys' Basketball Classic, where he helped the Victors to a third place finish in a gathering of the top teams in the state.

"We are excited to announce the signing of Marquill Smith to our 2015 freshman class," said USF head coach Rex Walters. "Marquill is a high school basketball state champion from Florida and his best days are still in front of him. He has done a good job in the classroom and brings a mixture of athleticism and a high basketball IQ to go along with scoring and playmaking ability. We feel he can truly add to our team next season."

Smith will be joined by Dont'e Reynolds (F, 6-7; Kinston, NC / Odessa College), Cedric Wright (F, 6-6; Fort Lauderdale, FL / Dillard HS) and Matthew McCarthy (F, 6-9; Melbourne, Australia / Xavier College / Waverly Falcons) as newcomers on next year's squad.
