The grades are in and USF student-athletes continue to embrace the department's top pillar of success: Excel in the Classroom.

USF's student-athletes achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.29 during the recently completed fall semester while 77 percent (163 of 210) of the university's student-athlete population achieved a grade point average of at least a 3.0 during the fall.

In addition, 68 student-athletes earned a spot on the university's Dean's Honor Roll, which recognizes students who have achieved and have maintained cumulative a grade point average of at least 3.50.

"I am proud of all of our student-athletes for their excellent work in the classroom during the fall semester," said USF Director of Athletics
Scott Sidwell. "Excelling in the classroom, winning at the highest levels of competitions, engaging in the community and becoming leaders in the world are the pillars which define our mission. I am very pleased our student-athletes continue to embrace a world-class educational experience at one of the nation's leading Jesuit institutions."

A total of 11 USF teams achieved team grade point averages of 3.0 or higher, led by USF's women's track and cross country team, which posted a department best 3.63 team grade point average. They were followed closely by the women's golf team, which compiled a 3.55 cumulative GPA.

A total of 17 USF student-athletes achieve a grade point average of 4.0, including Katoa Ahau (track & field), Max Alcorn (men's golf), Beau Bozett (baseball), Kamron Crow (men's soccer), Jessica Gaffney (volleyball), Jordan Hughes (men's soccer), Kimberly Liu (women's golf), Quentin Purtzer (men's cross country), Weronika Pyzik (women's cross country), Tatjana Schulte (women's cross country), Anthony Shew (baseball), Clare Sorensen (women's golf), Sara Staengle (volleyball), Thyra Taune (women's tennis), Charlotte Taylor (women's cross country), Leticia Torres (women's soccer), Mathias Wentjarvi (men's golf).

USF was also well-represented on various WCC All-Academic teams during the fall. A total of six student-athletes received first-team WCC All-Academic recognition while 14 others earned honorable mention status.
