SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco senior Ashely Moffett opened her final collegiate cross country season in the San Francisco State Invitational, coming away with a fifth-place individual finish on Friday afternoon from Golden Gate Park.

The Petaluma, Calif., native turned in a time of 22:19.6 in the race after weaving her way up through the pack for the solid start of her year at Speedway Meadow.

"I am really pleased with how Ashley competed today," noted USF head coach Helen Lehman-Winters. "She was about 30th at the mile and worked her way through the field. This is a solid opener for her, and she clearly had a lot left in the tank."

Next on the Dons' docket is a pair of premier races as USF eyes team point-getting opportunities. The No. 20 women travel to Madison for the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational next Friday, and the men hit the course at the Adidas Pre-National Invitational on Saturday.
