The squad earned a 1-1 split on the weekend while coming within one possession of upsetting league-leaders BYU. Â Her stellar week on the court earned her a nod as this week's West Coast Conference Player of the Week, her first weekly honor of the season and third in her career (12/22/14, 3/2/15).
"Taylor has been having an outstanding senior season," noted associate head coach
Shanele Stires. "To see her be recognized at the conference level at this stage of her career is truly a credit to all of her hard work, drive and dedication to building our program. This award is well deserved, and this is a honor for the entire USF basketball family, team and staff."
At BYU, the 6-0 forward finished with 27 points on .438 shooting and a 10-of-11 effort from the line as the Dons were nipped at the buzzer after Lexi Eaton Rydalch's near half-court heave found its mark as time expired. Two days later at San Diego, the Colorado Springs, Colo., native added a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds as USF defeated the Toreros, 59-54. The win at the Jenny Craig Pavilion was USF's first victory at San Diego since the 2004 season.
As a team, the Dons finished with 34.4 percent shooting from distance, with Proctor hitting 5-of-10 attempts from beyond the arc. USF was 32-for-36 from the free throw line (.889) with Proctor's 12-of-13 weekend leading the way. The Dons now stand at 22nd in NCAA Division I in free throw percentage, and 28th in 3-point percentage, with Proctor's 39.6 percent shooting from distance leading the team on the year.
