Dons Host George Washington on Wednesday

SAN FRANCISCO –– The USF men's tennis team will face George Washington on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Olympic Club.

George Washingon (5-5), a team out of the Atlantic 10 conference, enters Wednesday's match with a .500 record, with wins last week over Richmond and UMBC. The Colonials are 3-3 on the road this season and are led by Julius Tverijonas, who has five wins at No. 1 singles. Tverijonas has also paired up with teammate Danil Zelenkov to go 4-0 in No. 1 doubles.

USF (2-12) is coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Mountain-Pacific Invitational in Albuquerque. The Dons fell to New Mexico on Friday, before returning in the afternoon to beat Santa Clara 4-3. In the Saturday finale, the Green and Gold fell short against New Mexico State, 4-3.

The Dons saw some great singles play from Nils Skajaa over the weekend, as the senior went 2-0, taking both matches in straight sets. Woravin Kumthonkittkul also picked up a pair of wins, including the clincher over Santa Clara in a three-set win over Sebastien Mathieu.

At the same time as the men's match, USF's women's side will also take the court against George Washington. The Dons will remain at home next week to face Saint Mary's on March 25 at the California Tennis Club at 1 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to make it over to the Olympic Club, where admission is free all season. Also remember to follow @usfmenstennis on Twitter and stay tuned to USFDons.com for all match recaps.
