Entries Open for 24th USF Invitational

Invitational Information

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco cross country team is now accepting entries into the field of the 24th USF Cross Country Invitational, taking place on Sept. 3 at Golden Gate Park. The annual event is the held on opening weekend of the NCAA cross country season at Speedway Meadow.

In this year's iteration, a new 2,000 meter loop will be unveiled, with the women running a 6K course, and the men competing at the 8K distance. The course is composed of grass and dirt trails with gradual uphills and downhills at the city's iconic park.

The women will take off from the starting line at 9:30 a.m., with the men's race slated to begin at 10:15 a.m.

As in years past, a full complement of regional teams is expected to attend with top schools from multiple divisions competing on the course. Last season, Cal swept both the team and individual titles on both the men's and women's side.  Rejoining the field in 2016 is national mainstay Stanford, who finished No. 3 (MXC) and No. 13 (WXC) in the final USTFCCA polls one year ago.

Entries are now being accepted at www.directathletics.com, and the deadline to register teams or individuals is Aug. 29. More information on the meet can be found at www.usfdons.com/usfinvite.
