USF junior Henry Chung will begin his first round of the world's prestigious 116th U.S. Amateur on Monday, August 15 at the historic Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Chung is scheduled to tee-off the first tee of the tough South Course at 5:20 a.m. (PDT). Live results of stroke play action are available online via the USGA website by clicking here.

Oakland Hills will celebrate its 100th year after hosting a variety of major championships- six U.S. Opens, three PGA Championships and the 34th Ryder Cup in 2004.

The entire field of players will compete in a 36-hole stroke play format with the top 64 advancing to Wednesday's first round of match play.

After claiming medalist honors with a 6-under finish at a qualifying tournament at Sonoma Golf Club, Chung looks to continue his momentum and keep it simple in his first experience at the championships.

"I just want to keep everything simple for this week," said Chung. "The game plan is just to play my game, get the ball in the hole and enjoy this experience."

With the South Course being known as "The Monster" and the tougher course at Oakland Hills, Chung is also battling the forces of mother nature in his preparation for the week.

"I played only 13 holes on the South Course due to suspended play caused by thunderstorms," explained Chung. "The course is definitely a tough track and I am expecting high scores in the field."

Despite the weather and the tough layout of Oakland Hills, Chung is poised to take one shot at a time and ultimately enjoy the experience. He also credited the Dons' coaching staff for their continuous support of him and his teammates.

"Regardless of the scores out there, I am just going to enjoy myself and play the game," said Chung. "Doc (coach Nelson) and coach Kennedy have always been helpful by providing me and my teammates resources that we have been able to utilize to get to where we are. We will all be looking forward to our season opener at our home course- the Olympic Club this upcoming fall."

The Dons will open their 2016-17 schedule on Sept. 12-13 with the Olympic Invitational at the historic Olympic Club in San Francisco.
