WBB | Dons Sweep the Weekend with Win over Fresno State

THE RUNDOWN
SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco women's basketball team swept the weekend after defeating Fresno State, 70-62, on Sunday afternoon at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center. The Bulldogs (4-5, 0-0) were able to make it a competitive match in the final frame, but the Dons relentless battle in the first three quarters paid dividends in the final minutes of play.
The first quarter belonged to the Dons as they opened up with a 6-0 run and widened the gap to 13 with the help of Michaela Rakova's 11 points on 5-for-6 shooting. USF entered into the second frame with a 10-point cushion.
USF continued to out play the visitors, out rebounding them in the second quarter 13-8 to convert six second-chance points. The Dons lead quickly grew into 16 points with six minutes remaining before half and although the Bulldogs were only outscored by two points in the quarter, they headed to the locker room at the half down 12.
Coach Goodenbour's squad shot 56.3 percent from the field, highlighted by Moa Lundqvist's perfect percentage of 4-for-4, in the third frame. The Dons hot shooting helped to open up a 22-point advantage.
The fourth quarter the Bulldogs took the Dons by surprise, outscoring them 22-9, and at one point, closing the gap to five points. They held USF to just nine points as the Dons shot 14.3 percent in the quarter. In the end, the home team pulled it out as free throws added up in the final minutes.

GAME NOTES
- Moa Lundqvist recorded a career-high 20 points on 72.7 percent shooting (8-for-11). She nearly earned her first double-double, adding nine rebounds.
- Michaela Rakova added 18 points and 15 boards, marking her second consecutive double-double and fifth of the season.
- Rakova also registered three blocks.
- Anna Seilund scored 13 points and earned a game-high six assists.
- The Dons out rebounded the Bulldogs by 17, 52-35.
- USF's rebounds converted to 17 second-chance points compared to Fresno State's 12.
- USF shot a game-high 56.3 percent in the third frame, going 9-for-16.
