Kalyn Simon took home first team honors, while juniors
Michaela Rakova and
Anna Seilund earned honorable mention recognition.
This is Howard's third time on the all-academic team after earning first team honors last year and honorable mention recognition as a sophomore. The reigning WCC Player of the Week is carrying a 3.43 GPA as a first-year graduate student in USF's sports management program. She ranks third in the WCC at 17.1 points per game while boasting a 39.9 percent three-point percentage that ranks as the fourth-best in the conference.
Simon is also a grad student, holding a 3.90 GPA while earning her Master's in international studies. She ranks just ahead of Howard as one of the top three-point threats in the WCC this season at 41.1 percent from the perimeter while averaging a career-best 9.6 points per game. Simon earned all-academic honorable mention honors last season.
Rakova, a psychology major, boasts a 3.49 GPA while averaging 9.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. She leads the Dons with four double-doubles on the year and took home WCC Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career on Jan. 2. Rakova was an all-academic honorable mention honoree as a sophomore.
Seilund carries a 3.45 GPA majoring in organizational behavior and leadership. She earned her first WCC Player of the Week honor on Dec. 19 and has averaged a career-high 11.1 points per game, which is second on the team, while ranking among the top-10 in the conference averaging 3.9 assists per contest. Seilund earned all-academic honorable mention recognition in 2015-16.
