SAN FRANCISCO – Senior
Allen Smoot capped off his USF career by earning first team All-WCC honors to headline a list of four Dons recognized on the all-conference teams, which were announced on Tuesday.

Dominic Miroglio and sophomore
Thomas Ponticelli each took home honorable mention honors. The Dons have placed at least one student-athlete on the All-WCC first team in 12 of the last 13 seasons.
Smoot, a third baseman, earned his first all-conference recognition after ranking second in the WCC with a .391 batting average and 43 hits in conference play. He also ranked among the top-10 in on base percentage (.472) and walks (16) over 27 WCC contests, while hitting two runs and driving in 20 runs during conference action and tying for the team lead with 19 runs scored.
Miroglio stood out as one of the WCC's premier catchers this season, both offensively and behind the plate, where his 11 doubles in WCC play were the second-most and his 38 hits and 60 total bases ranked among the top-10. Miroglio hit .325 in conference action with a .513 slugging percentage, three home runs and 17 RBIs. Behind the plate, Miroglio didn't commit an error in conference play while throwing out 12 runners, which ranked second among WCC games. This was the first All-WCC honor of his career.
Sinatro earned honorable mention honors for the second consecutive season after proving himself as one of the conference's top base stealers by swiping eight bags during WCC play. An outfielder, Sinatro hit .321 with a team-best 19 runs scored in conference action, while adding a triple and 17 RBIs. His 17 walks ranked as the fourth-most during WCC games.
Ponticelli, a right-handed pitcher, bounced back from an early-season injury just in time to post a 3-2 record with a 2.89 ERA in eight appearances during WCC play, which included six starts. He ranked among the top-10 in ERA, while allowing just five walks over 46 2/3 innings in WCC games, which was tied for the fewest in the conference. This was Ponticelli's first all-conference honor.
The Dons rounded out the season this past weekend by winning two of three from Pacific to finish one game above .500 at 29-28 overall and 11-16 in WCC play, putting them in sixth place in the final standings.
