SAN FRANCISCO – Northern California native Devin Dougherty has been named to the staff of the San Francisco men's and women's golf teams where she will serve as an assistant coach for the Dons, announced jointly by USF head coaches Jack Kennedy and Sara Doell.
Dougherty, who hails from Woodland, Calif., and is pursuing her master's degree from USF's sport management program, will focus on player development and recruiting for the Dons.

"We are extremely excited to have Devin be part of our USF golf program," said USF men's head coach Kennedy. "She brings a wealth of knowledge from her own playing days as well a great understanding of the golf landscape in the Bay Area. She will play a vital role in recruiting future Dons and assisting our players' development on and off the course. Devin will be a perfect fit at USF and we can't wait to get to work."

"We are thrilled to have Devin join our golf program here at USF," added women's head coach Doell. "Her amateur and collegiate playing experience paired with her desire to help others better themselves make her a perfect fit for both programs. She is full of energy and passion for the game and is excited to be a part of these programs as we move them forward."

Prior to joining the USF staff, Dougherty served for one season as a volunteer assistant coach at Academy of Art. She helped the Urban Knights to their best-ever Pac-West Tournament finish (second) and the team's third-consecutive NCAA Super Regionals appearance.

Dougherty played her collegiate golf for Colorado, where she was a three-time letterwinner for the Buffaloes. The team was ranked as high at 10th in the nation and participated at 2012 NCAA Championships during her stay in Boulder. Along with her time on the course, Dougherty was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for the Buffs and she earned her degree in business operations with a minor in economics.

Her prep golf experience came at Pioneer HS, where she was a pioneer of her own – starting the fledgling program and leading the team to the league championship four consecutive seasons. Dougherty was also a four-time All-League selection and four-year regional qualifier, earning regional medalist honors during her senior campaign.

"I am very excited to join the USF family and am honored to have the opportunity to be surrounded by such dedicated individuals," noted Dougherty. "The USF golf program has grown a lot, and I'm eager to contribute to the building momentum!"

Dougherty will begin her duties on the Hilltop immediately with the fall tournament calendar fast approaching. The women tee off Sept. 17 in the Ptarmington Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colo., while the men take to the course at the GolfWeek Invitational to open the slate. More details on both squad's schedules will be available soon.
