Alison Lillie and
Emily Laskin have been tapped to the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team for the 2016-17 season, as announced today by the WGCA.
Lillie and Laskin are among the 952 women's collegiate golfers recognized this season. With a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, the criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics
Lillie, a recent graduate of the Dons makes her third appearance on the team after being named an All-American Scholar in 2014 and '16. Maintaining a 3.83 grade-point average in her studies in marketing, Lillie was a leader not only in the classroom, but on the course as well.
Lillie played in all 10 of the Dons events this year and was a mainstay in the lineup for 38 tournaments during her four-year career. The captain of the Dons is a three-time WCC All-Academic selection and WGCA Academic Scholar. She also was named this year's Dante Benedetti Award winner, presented to a USF student-athlete who serves as an inspiration to their teammates through their unwavering sense of loyalty, self-sacrifice, unselfishness, positive attitude and hard work.
Laskin, soon to enter her senior season, makes her first appearance on the WGCA rolls as a Don. Carrying a 3.83 GPA in international business, the native of Elk Grove, Calif., was also named to this year's WCC All-Academic team. On the course, Laskin played in seven events for the Dons with a 77.5 stroke average. Finishing the year strong, she carded her best individual finish of the '16-17 campaign at the WCC Championships where she tied for 13th place.
Led by the duo of Lillie and Laskin, USF stands as one of two WCC squads with multiple selections to the All-Scholar Team. BYU led the way with four honorees while Gonzaga, Pepperdine and Santa Clara have one apiece.
