The University of San Francisco women's soccer team hosts Cal in its home opener on Friday, August 25 at 7 p.m. before welcoming Cal Poly on Sunday, August 27 at 1 p.m. to Negoesco Stadium.
Cal (2-0-0) is off to its best start since 2014, when it started the season 6-0-0. This weekend marks the first road test for the Bears, who went 5-3-2 in away matches last season, including a 2-2-1 mark in non-conference play.
Cal Poly (1-2-0) is coming off their first win of the season, defeating CSU Bakersfield, 1-0, on Wednesday, August 24.
USF (1-1-0) opened with a 2-1 road win against New Mexico in its 2017 season opener last Friday in the Lobo Invitational. The Dons came back from an early 1-0 deficit on goals by
Samantha Jehnings and
Sonja Giraud in the 13th and 49th minute to defeat the Lobos.
In its second game of the season, San Francisco played Texas Tech in a neutral site matchup in Albuquerque, N.M., losing 1-0 in double overtime. The Red Raiders scored on a penalty kick in the 105th minute to down the Dons.
Friday's home opener and Sunday's match will be streamed live with Charles Wollin on the call.
