NAPA, Calif. – The University of San Francisco men's tennis team opened its 2017 fall season with a doubles win against Tulsa and a singles win against Oklahoma State in day one of the Silverado Collegiate Invitational on Friday.
"The Dons battled hard against some tough competition today," said men's head coach Pablo Pires de Almeida. "In doubles, Johan and Paul fought back and saved a match point at 7-6 deuce to win the match in a tiebreaker against Tulsa."
In singles action, the Dons faced off against Oklahoma State. No. 4 single Paul Giraud earned the victory in three sets: 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
"In Singles the players fought hard and Paul was able to come through in a third set," said Pires de Almeida. "I'm proud of the way the players competed and I look forward to tomorrow's doubles against Dartmouth and singles against UNLV."
Day two of the Invitational will begin at 9:00 a.m. PT on Saturday, September 9.Â
