Track And Field Teams Return To Action This Saturday At Hornet Invite.

The USF track and field teams will return to action this Saturday at the Hornet Invite after taking last weekend off from competition. The meet will take place at Hornet Stadium, which has hosted the last two Olympic Trials, along with the past three NCAA Championship meets. It will also host the 2007 NCAA Track and Field Championship on June 6.
Competing for the men in the 800m will be junior Kenny Sparks, sophomore Alex Nelson, and freshmen Micael Smith and Byron Williams. In the 5000m race juniors Ryan Courtwright and Jacob Marx will represent the Dons and senior Jorge Martinez will run in the 1500m race.
In the pole vault freshman Alex McIntosh will look to improve on his school record of 4.20m and freshmen Alex Irani and A.J. Fabrizio will compete in the shot put, with Irani also competing in the discus competition.
For the women senior Renee Stribling, who is coming off a third place finish (2:16.82) in the Aggie Open, will race in the 800m with freshmen Christine Jowaiszas. Freshmen Melissa Jones and Brynn Maurer will compete in the 400m and junior Elizabeth Noey will represent the Dons in the 1500m. Freshmen Briana Junior will compete in the both the long jump (4.77m) and the triple jump (10.64m), where she will look to extend both of her school records during the Hornet Invite.
