Dons Compete at SFSU Distance Carnival, Stanford Invitational

San Francisco State Distance Carnival Results
(San Francisco) - Colin Hopkins and Shawna Winnegar each won their respective sections part of the USF Track and Field team competed at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival. Another portion of the squad competed at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto.
Hopkins turned in a personal best mark in the 800m race, with a time of 1:55.58, winning his section. Winnegar took first in her section of the 1500m, with a season-best time of 5:02.38. Overall, Hopkins finished seventh in the overall marks, and Winnegar 15th. Hopkins and Winnegar were two of 12 Dons to compete at the event. Overall, USF compiled four top-10 finishes.
At the Stanford Invitational, Alanna Nulph, Oliver Kirkeby and Alex Irani competed for San Francisco. Nulph competed in the shot put, finishing third with a 12.37 mark, while Irani finished in 22nd with 37.50. Kirkeby competed in the discus, as well as the shot, earning marks of 13.39 and 44.32, respectively. Kirkeby finished eighth in the discus and 14th in the shot.
The Dons will continue competing tomorrow at the Stanford Invitational, while also opening competition at the Cal-Nevada Championship on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles.
