(Los Angeles, Calif.) - Nicole Bowler of the USF Track and Field team earned the 1500m women's title at the Cal Nevada Championships Sunday on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles. Sunday was the final day of the two-day event.
Bowler opened the race at a slow pedestrian pace but ran negative splits to easily pull away from the field over the final 300 meters of the race. The feat continues her undefeated season. Already this spring, Bowler has won events at the California Opener and the Aggie Open, where she earned an NCAA qualifier time in the 3000m steeplechase.
On the men's side Byron Williams earned a personal best time in the 1500 with a mark of 3:54.44, finishing 10th.
The Dons will return to competition Saturday, April 4 at both the Johnny Mathis Invitational and the Sacramento Elite Invitational.
