USF Compete at Johnny Mathis Invitational

(San Francisco) - USF Track and Field will compete this weekend at the Johnny Mathis Invitational at Cox Stadium on the campus of San Francisco State University. San Francisco will send 27 Dons to the event meet to compete in 14 events. Friday will feature the men's javelin throw while Saturday field events begin at 9:30 a.m., and running events at 11 a.m.
Highlighting the running events for USF will be Nicole Bowler, who remains undefeated on the spring season. Last week, Bowler won the Cal Nevada Championships title in the 1500. This week, she will race her first 800 of the season. Arianna Edwards will also compete in the race. Also running for the women will be Michelle Born, who will compete in the her first 1500 of the season.
On the men's side, the San Francisco roster will be bolstered by Jesus Romo, Devin Hopkins, Bryon Williams and Thomas Estrada. Romo, who is fresh off a third place finish in the steeplechase at the Cal Nevada Championships, will race in the 1500. Hopkins and Williams will represent the Dons in the 800, while Estrada will race his first 5000 of the spring.
In the field events, Alanna Nulph, Oliver Kirkeby and Alex Delgadillo, who sat out last weekend, will return to compete for USF. Nulph will represent the Green and Gold in the discus throw and the shot put, as will Kirkeby. Delgadillo will return Friday afternoon to compete in the javelin, marking the lone USF representative to compete on Friday.
