April 30, 2009
(San Francisco) - San Francisco's Track and Field team will send two student athletes to Saturday's Payton Jordan/Cardinal Qualifier. The event was originally scheduled for Sunday, but has been moved to Saturday in Palo Alto.
Competing for the Dons will be Michelle Born and Nicole Bowler. Born will race the 5000m, an event that she has already reached an NCAA Qualifying Time for. Earlier this season, Born finished the race in a time of 16:48.30, to earn a spot in the NCAA Regional and place third at the Mt. Sac Relays.
Bowler will race Saturday in the 1500, an event she earned a Qualifying Mark in at the Woody Wilson Classic. Bowler finished the race in a time of 4:26.72 to qualify for NCAA's in her second event of the season. She previously had qualified in the 3K steeplechase, marking the second female Don to meet a qualifying standard time in program history.
