Born, Junior Post Strong Outings In Sacramento

(Sacramento, Calif.) - In the final weekend of regular season competition for the USF Track and Field team, Michelle Born continued her strong season, winning the 1500 at the Sacramento State Invitational. The Dons also competed at the Twilight Meet in Eugene, Ore. Saturday.
Born won the 1500 in Sacramento with a personal best mark of 4:3.41. The senior, who was coming off a strong performance in the 5000 last week at the Payton Jordan Classic, dominated the field, winning by five seconds. Last weekend, Born had set a big personal best and USF record in the 5000.
Briana Junior also posted a notable finish for the Green and Gold, finishing second in the triple jump. In her last competition in a San Francisco uniform, Junior posted a 11.82 mark.
"I am very proud of how Briana jumped today," said USF head coach Helen Lehman-Winters. "She has worked very hard this season and today's competition was by far her best series of the season."
Also posting notable finishes were Nicole Bowler, Ravi Amarawansa and Jesus Romo. Bowler finished fourth in the women's 800 with a time of 2:13.02. Amarawansa and Romo both competed in the 1500, finishing third and sixth, respectively.
In Eugene, both Laurel Kleiber and Ganbileg Bor raced in the 5000. Kleiber earned her second best time of the season, finishing 12th with a time of 17:16.06. Bor earned a sixth place finish, posting a time of 14:38.51.
