Bor, Zytkewicz Earn Victories At Aggie Open

(Davis, Calif.) - Heather Zytkewicz and Ganbileg Bor each their respective 5000m races, on a windy day, Saturday at the Aggie Open in Davis, Calif. The first place victories were two of 22 top-10, 11 top-five, finishes for the Dons at the event.
Zytkewicz won the women's 5000, leading from the begining, with a time of 17:22.73, while the Dons' Mary Sandri finished third in 18:35.13. Saturday's event was the first time Sandri has competed in the 1500 during the track season. In the same event, Laurel Kleiber finished in fifth place, running the race with a time of 18:49.75.
Bor was one of four to finish in the top-10 of the men's 5000, earning the title, never trailing, with a flat time of 15:00.00. Joshua Horeled finished sixth in 15:30.53, and Tyler Alvarez in seventh with a time of 15:22.99. The USF pack was rounded out by Jeremy Grace in eighth place in 15:23. 61.
Aly Drake paced three Dons with top-10 finishes in the 800, earning a time of 2:16.67 for a second place finish. Arianna Edwards finished just behind Drake in third (2:19.60) and Sahar Bala finished ninth (2:25.02).
Eva Krchova earned a third place finish in the women's 1500, running a time of 4:35.09. Hillay Kigar finished sixth in the event in a time of 4:39.23, recording a big personal best.
Will Marquardt recorded a second place finish in the men's 1500, running a personal best time of 3:54.32. Steve Garboden and Bryon Williams finished fifth and sixth, respectively with times of 3:58.97 (PR) and 4:03.40.
In the field events, Alexander Fowler earned a fourth place finish in the triple jump thanks to a mark of 14.05. The freshman's mark was a personal best. Fowler also competed in the long jump, finishing 15th. Oliver Kirkeby competed in the shot put, placing fourth with a mark of 14.19.
The Dons will compete again next weekend at the Hornet Open in Sacramento.
