San Francisco Track Competes on Day Two of Husky Classic
Laura Suur and Nicole Bowler Set Personal Bests in Women's 3K

(Seattle, WA) – San Francisco women's track complete the final day of the 2012 Husky Classic with a strong showing in the 3k event Saturday afternoon at Dempsey Indoor. Junior Laura Suur and senior Nicole Bowler finished 13th and 14th in the in the event each both seconds shy of toppling the school record in the event.
Competing in her first collegiate indoor contest, Suur posted a person best at 9:19.34, just edging Bowler, who registered her second personal best in two weeks at Dempsey Indoor at 9:19.36. Bowler reclaimed the school record in the mile in the UW Invitational. All-American Eva Krchova owns the school record in the event at 9:17.57.
"Laura and Nicole were outstanding this evening," USF head coach Helen Lehman-Winters said. "They ran very relaxed and were composed throughout the entire race. They worked well together and definitely had a lot more in them."
Suur and Bowler tracked the leader for most of the second half of their race and finished second and third in their heat. It was another quality field as five individuals posted NCAA Indoor automatic qualifying times (9:10.0).
Competing in her first career 3k race, junior Sophie Curl finished with a time of 9:36.89.
