(Davis, CA) - San Francisco Track continued its strong start to the Spring Season Saturday afternoon at the 2006 Aggie Open, hosted by UC Davis at Woody Wilson Track. Junior Renee Stribling captured her first win of the season in the 1500, leading wire to wire in a time of 4:41.86, while sophomore Ryan Courtwright also won his inaugural race of 2006 in impressive fashion in the 5000 at 15:10.82. In addition to her dominant showing in the 1500, Stribling also posted a runner-up showing in the 800 with a time of 2:19.86. Freshman Ashton LeSieur turned in a strong day for the Dons with a breakthrough showing in the 1500 in a time of 4:44.65 to establish a new personal best and finished third overall. LeSieur also turned in an eighth place showing in the 800 at 2:28.19. Sophomores Liz Noey (4:58.00) and Katie Matl (4:58.84) finished ninth and 10th respectively in the 1500. Courtwright keyed a strong day for the men's squad, beating the runner-up by more than 10 seconds in the 5000 to establish a new personal best. Sophomore Jacob Marx finished fifth in the 5000 at 15:29.53, while freshman Sam Berrin was ninth at 15:46.53 and both established career times. Freshman Alex Nelson won his heat and finished sixth overall in the 1500 at 4:34.44 and turned in a 10th place finish in the 800 at 1:59.34. Former Don Lukas Musil placed fourth in the 800 at 1:54.91. USF head coach Helen Lehman-Winters was pleased with the efforts of her squad at Davis. "Renee Stribling had two solid races for us. I think she is poised to do some very good things at the right time. Ashton also had a breakthrough race for us. On the men's side all of our guys posted pr's in the 5000. Overall it was a good day for the program," Lehman-Winters said.
San Francisco returns to action when it competes in the 2006 Bay Area Blastoff, hosted by Cal Saturday, March 18 in Berkeley.
