The women's USF Track and Field team set two school records Friday evening in the first day of the Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational, hosted by UCLA in Los Angeles. Sophomore Briana Junior broke her own school record when she finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.57m, which smashed her 2007 mark of 11.14m. Also setting a new school record Friday evening in Los Angeles was freshman Nicole Bowler in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:00.00, beating the old school record of 11:09.23. The top finisher for the Dons on Friday was junior Michelle Born who set a personal best in the 5000m while finishing second with a time of 17:10.51, beating her old personal best by over six seconds. Also setting personal bests for the Dons Friday were freshmen Hannah O'Neal in the 800m with a time of 2:18.81 and Ravi Amarawansa in the men's 1500m with a time of 4:03.43. Competing on Saturday for the Dons in LA will be junior Alex Nelson in the men's 800m and senior Zita Mezei in the women's 1500m. There will also be a split squad in action at the Johnny Mathis Invitational at San Francisco State.
