Complete Johnny Mathis Schedule in PDF Format
The USF track and field teams will compete in the Johnny Mathis Invitational this Friday and Saturday at San Francisco State University. After sending an elite group of middle and long distance runners to the Stanford Invitational last weekend, the Dons will have the full squad competing against various schools throughout California, including WCC opponent Santa Clara. Competing on Friday in the 3,000m steeplechase will be school record holders Micael Smith, a freshman and junior Lucy Miller, along with sophomore Ashton LeSieur. In the Saturday competition Miller and Lesieur will compete in the 1500m along with sophomore Michelle Born, junior Jennifer Hartford and freshmen Alice Hobbs and Christine Jowaiszas. Jowaiazas and Hobbs will also compete in the 800m and freshman Mary Verran will run in the 5,000m race. In the sprints and jumps freshman Briana Junior will compete in the triple jump, an event that she holds the school record. Freshman Melissa Jones will compete in the 400m race for the Dons as well. On the men's side junior Kenny Sparks will compete in the 5,000m race as well as the 1500m race, an event he set a new personal record in last weekend at Stanford. Also competing in the 1500m with Sparks will be freshman Byron Williams, along with juniors Ryan Courtwright, Cheyne Inman and Jacob Marx. Williams will also compete in the 800m with Smith as well. The Dons will also be represented in the shot put by freshmen Alex Irani and A.J. Fabrizio and in the pole vault by freshman Alex McIntosh, the school record holder. In the sprints, freshmen Joseph Harris and Matt Domenech will compete in the 400m and freshman Jamaal Myles will race in the 200m.
