The USF track team is gearing up for the 2006 Division I Independent Track and Field Championships to be held in Greeley, Colorado this weekend. Participating schools include USF, University of Portland, South Dakota State, UC Davis, Utah Valley State, IPFW, the host school University of Northern Colorado, and North Dakota State.

For the women, Lucy Miller, who is seeded fourth, will compete in the 3000 Steeple Chase. Named the team MVP for cross country, Miller recently posted a runner-up finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a personal best of 11:19.90 in the Woody Wilson Invitational.

Renee Stribling (third seed), Ashton LeSieur (sixth seed), Michelle Born and Kati Matl will run in the 1500. Jennifer Gross is the USF entry in the 10K. This is the first time USF has competed in a 10K. The 5000 looks to be a great race with seeds two through six all posting times within 6 seconds of each other. Don Jennifer Hartford is seeded 5th. Liz Noey and Katie Matl are also entered in the 5000.

Lucy Miller, Michelle Born, Renee Stribling and Ashton LeSieur will compete in the 4 x 400 relay.

On the men's side, Alex Nelson, who is the fifth seed, will be running in the 1500. This also looks to be an exciting race with seeds two through five all posting times within 1.8 seconds of each other. Dons Cheyne Inman (seeded fourth) and Ryan Courtwright are participating in the 5000.

USF looks to improve last year's strong showing when Renee Stribling placed third in the 800, Stephanie Voelckers fifith in the 400, and Jeannine Hagedorn finished third in the 5000. Jennifer Hartford and Ariana Morey finished ninth and tenth respectively in the 5000. For the men, Cheyne Inman placed ninth in the men's 5000.
