Lehman-Winters Adds Six For 2010-11

(San Francisco) - Helen Lehman-Winters, head coach of both the USF Cross Country and Track and Field programs, has announced the addition of six incoming Dons for the 2010-11 seasons. The group of six include an Israeli National Champion, a former Footlocker National finalist and a California State Champion.
The incoming class is composed of three women and three men. All three will compete for the Dons during the cross country and track seasons.
Women
"We are excited to welcome these three talented young women to our program," said Lehman-Winters. "They are all distance specialists and will help strengthen our WCC Championship team from last year, making us very competitive within the region. Each one of them is capable of being effective in our 4-9 spots, and any of them could be even better than that."
Maor Tiyouri, Israel/Kefa-Saba
Amateur Bests: 1500 - 4:36.83; 3000 - 9:50.11; 5000 - 17:03.32;
10000 - 35:48.26
A three-time National Champion, Tiyouri comes to the Hilltop
boasting an impressive career in her native Israel. In 2010,
Tiyouri earned the Israeli National Champion title in the 10000
(35:48.26) and the 5000 (17:16.57), while also nabbing that
National Title in Cross Country. In addition, Tiyouri was the 2009
Maccabiah Games sliver medalist in the 1500.
Jana Stolting, Mclay HS/Tallahassee, Fla.
Prep Bests: 1600 - 4:57.64; 3200 - 10:41.54
Stolting joins the Dons after posting third place finishes at the
2010 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) 1A State
Championships in the 1600 and 3200. In addition, she earned the
Florida State University Relays Champion title in the 3200.
Stolting also enjoyed a successful cross country prep career,
finishing third at the 2009 FHSAA Cross Country Championships,
before placing 17th (17:51) at the Footlocker South Regionals.
Sarah Pearson, La Reina HS/Thousand Oaks,
Calif.
Prep Bests: 1600 - 4:59.95; 3200 - 10:55.98
Pearson enters USF as a former California Interscholastic
Federation (CIF) Division I Champion and a State Finalist in the
3200. This past fall, Pearson finished sixth (18:26) at the
Division IV State Cross Country Championships, while also posting a
fourth place finish in at the Nike Pre-National Meet with a time of
18:16.1.
Men
"We are adding three top notch distance runners who are capable of mixing it up with our current squad," Lehman-Winters said. "We felt like we have been missing something on our men's squad and each of these young men will bring something different to the table. We believe that they will make us much better this fall."
Jose Madera, Anahiem HS/Anaheim, Caif.
Prep Bests: 1600 - 4:18.60; 3200 - 9:22.90
Madera heads into his collegiate career after finishing fourth
(15:13) at the 2009 California State Division I Championships. He
also boasts a 15:02 time when racing on the Mt. Sac Invitational
course in Pomona.
Riley Booker, University of Washington/San Diego,
Calif.
Collegiate Bests: 1500 - 3:57.07; Mile - 4:10.75; 3000 -
8:20.78i; 5000 - 14:26.14; 10000 - 30:54.47
Booker has spent the past three years competing at the University
of Washington, where he garnered Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic
honors as a first team selection in track and a second team
selection for cross country. During his prep career, Booker was the
2005 CIF and California State Champion, while also becoming a
Footlocker finalist at University City High. In 2006, he placed
19th at the USA Junior National Cross Country Championships.
Gustavo Mena, Oxnard HS/Ventura, Calif.
Prep Bests: 1600 - 4:17.94; 800 - 1:57.60
Mena recently qualified for the 1600 CIF Finals, finishing seventh
in the Division I Finals with a personal best time of 4:17.94. In
addition, Mena is the 2010 Ventura County Champion in the 800. He
also holds the Pacific View League Meet record in the 800 with a
time of 1:57.60 and is the Senior Seaside Invitational 5K Champion
with a mark of 15:42.03.
