Men's Individual and Team Results Get Acrobat Reader

(Eugene, OR) - San Francisco cross country competed in the 2009 Dellinger Invite, hosted by the University of Oregon on Friday afternoon. The women's squad finished sixth with the men's team coming in tenth.

Women's 5k: A fast course led to all Dons earning season or personal bests in the event. Freshman Eva Krchova led the women's team, placing 26th with a 17:30.15. This is the second consecutive time the newcomer has finished first for USF. Junior Nicole Bowler came in next for the Dons, finishing 28th in 17:31.26. Sophomore Hillary Kigar, competing in just her second race of 2009, also put in a season best with 17:37.16 (32nd). Freshman Sophie Curl finished fourth for the Dons, coming in 48th at 17:57.37. Freshman Hayley Niles rounded USF's scoring five, placing 57th in 18:21.03. Freshman Chloe Treleven finished 63rd in 18:33.29, and freshman Heather Zytkewicz came in 71st 19:00.46.

No. 5 Villanova one the event (22), followed by No. 2 Oregon (41), and No. 14 Baylor (86). USF (172) bested WCC foe Portland who finished 9th (224). The overall winner of the race was Villanova's Sheila Reid in 16:22.92.

Men's 8k: USF men had a rougher time, finishing tenth in the event. Freshman Ganbileg Bor led the Dons, finishing 41st in 24:40.88, followed by sophomore Thomas Estrada in 60th 25:16.80. Freshman Adrian Rafiee came in fourth for USF, finishing 66th in 25:33.43, followed closely by junior Ravi Amarawansa at 68th in 25:39.45. Sophomore Will Marquardt rounded out the Dons scoring five in 25:48.82 (78th). Junior Joshua Horeled finished 82nd in 26:01.86 and senior Alex Nelson came in 85th in 26:15.81.

No. 9 Alabama (53) won the event, followed by No. 12 BYU (63) in second, and Oregon (71) in third. No. 8 Portland (73) took fourth. Alabama's Tyson David was the overall top finisher in 23:37.71.

A USF split squad will compete tomorrow at UC Davis. The women's 6k begins at 9:00 AM, with the men's 8k following at 9:45 AM.
