USF Women Cross Country First, Men Third at Sacramento State Hornet Jamboree

(Sacramento, CA) - Senior Michelle Born (17.27) and sophomore Nicole Bowler (17:37) finished first and second in the women's 5k at the Sacramento State Hornet Jamboree, helping the Dons to a first place finish. Freshman Sophia Ditty ran 18:08, good enough for a 12th place finish. Junior Mary Verran finished 21st with a time of 18:32. Sophomore Carly Holman ran a 19:05, finishing 36th, while freshman Hillary Kigar came in just after at 19:06. Sophomore Arianna Edwards finished 47th at 19:45.

USF (57) earned the win the in women's event, followed by Santa Clara (60) and Sacramento State (66). Sac State (35) took the men's event, followed by UC Davis (52) and USF (55).

Freshman Ganbileg Bor was the top finisher for USF in the men's four mile race, coming in at 20:15 (fifth place). Freshman Jeremy Grace also finished in the top ten, coming in 8th at 20:29. Freshman Thomas Estrada finished 14th at 20:50, while sophomore Jesue Romo came in 15th, also with a time of 20:50. Rounding out the scoring five for USF was sophomore Joshua Horeled, who finished 18th with a time of 20:54. Freshman Will Marquardt finished 18th at 21:00, followed by freshman Michael Barnes in 21st at 21:07. Senior Alex Nelson ran unattached and finished fourth at 20:13.

USF returns to action on September 27th at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto.
