(Davis, CA) - San Francisco cross country traveled to UC Davis to compete in the Doc Adams Invitational at Putah Creek Reserve. The men's team finished fourth in the event. Freshmen brothers Colin and Devin Hopkins finished 11th and 12th respectively to lead the men's team. Colin finished the 8k in 25:50:30 and Devin finished in 25:53:80. Following close behind were sophomore Byron Williams (15th, 26:06:00), and freshman Will Marquardt (17th, 26:09:80). The final scorer for the Dons was freshman Michael Barnes, who finished 22nd in 26:22:90. Sophomore Ravi Amarawansa came in 23rd in 26:32:00 and freshman Stephen Garboden finished 26th in 26:47:60. "We held out a good majority of our team today and took this meet as an opportunity for various individuals to gain more racing experience," said head coach Helen Lehman-Winters. "Colin and Devin both took a critical step forward today and posted breakthrough performances. I am very pleased with how they executed up at the front of our team." Senior Alex Nelson ran unattached and finished ninth with a time of 25:41:40. For the women, freshman Hilary Kigar led, finishing 10th in the 6k with a time of 22:43:90. Freshman Haley Nemra (22:49:00) and junior Alice Hobbs (22:52:00) finished 11th and 12th respectively. Freshman Shannon Jensen finished 32nd in 26:37:30. With only four runners competing, the Dons did not place in the meet. USF returns to action next Saturday in the San Francisco State meet at Golden Gate Park.
