(San Francisco, CA) - Freshman Sophia Ditty finished fifth overall with a time of 22:38 in the women's 6k event at the 25th annual San Francisco State Invitational on Friday. Ditty's fifth place finish helped the Dons to a fourth place finish out of the 11 teams competing in the race at Speedway Meadows in Golden Gate Park. Fellow freshman Haley Nemra had a solid time of 22:53, finishing eighth overall. Junior Mary Verran was 15th with a time of 23:10. Sophomore Arianna Edwards came in 54th at 25:08, and freshman Shannon Jensen finished 69th in 25:53. "I am very pleased with how both Sophia and Haley competed today." Said head coach Helen-Lehman Winters. "They are both getting better and better with each meet and are both ready to make a jump to the next level competitively." USF will run a split men's and women's squad at the Chili Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas and at the Bronco Invitational at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale next Saturday.
