(San Francisco, CA) - San Francisco cross country/track and the USF MBA program will host the Ninth Annual Tom Caruso Run on Saturday, February 22, 2009 at the Golden Gate Park Conservatory of Flowers. Last season, the race saw more participants (300) than any year before in the event's history.

A 5k run begins at 9:00 AM with a family 5K run/walk beginning at 9:05 AM. You can register online at www.theschedule.com or use the above flyer and mail in your registration. The deadline for the $20 cost is February 15, with a $30 cost on the day of the race. Registration on the day of the event begins at 7:45 AM. Every participant will get a commemorative t-shirt, refreshments, and a raffle drawing entry. Awards will go to the top three men and women finishers in the 5k run.

Tom Caruso was a graduate of Saint Ignatius High School in San Francisco and got his MBA from USF after getting his undergraduate degree at St. Mary's. An avid runner, Caruso was training for the Olympic Trials in Las Vegas when he was tragically killed when he was struck by a cab.

Proceeds from the event benefit both the Tom Caruso Memorial Scholarship, awarded to an MBA student in International Study, and the USF cross country teams.
