USF Women Earn Highest Ranking In School History

After the best finish in school history at the WCC Championship last Saturday, the USF women's cross country team achieved its highest ranking in school history when they were voted #12 in the West Region, as released by ustfccca rankings on Oct. 29.

The Dons scored 43 points, beating the old school record of 52 points, which was set last season. The team was led by senior Jennifer Hartford who earned her second consecutive All-WCC First Team Honors by placing fourth overall with a school record time of 21:18. Also earning All-WCC First Team honors was senior Fallon Heffernan (sixth, 21:29) and junior Michelle Born (10th, 21:52). Earning All-WCC Honorable Mention honors were seniors Lucy Miller (11th, 21:54) and Zita Mezei (12th, 21:55). Also running on the school record team was freshman Nicole Bowler (27th, 23:08) and sophomore Mary Verran (28th, 23:15).

Next up for the Dons is the Western Regional race on Nov. 10 in Eugene, OR. The team will look to beat the regional finish of the 2004 team which was 15th overall, a school record.
