Belmont, CA - USF competed at the 2001 Santa Clara Invitational held at Crystal Springs and seized a fourth place showing on both the men's and women's side - their best team outing of the season. Santa Clara won the team competition on the men's side, while San Jose State captured the women's race.

Leading the way to a strong finish for USF on the men's side was T.K. Revane, who finished 15th with a time of 28:05, followed by teammate Rudy Castonon in 21st place with a mark of 28:54. Roberto Lopez of Fresno Pacific won the race in a time of 25:47.

Chrysta Heavens turned in the top showing for USF with a ninth place finish in a time of 19:17 in her first race of the 2001 campaign. Theresa Radvanyi finished 19th at 20:07, while Laura Danner-Baird also cracked the top-20 with a 20th place finish and a time of 20:11. San Jose State's Ana Martinez crossed the line first with a time of 17:55.
