Blaine Clemmens enters his second season on the Hilltop with the USF baseball program, his first as a full time assistant on Nino Giarratano's staff. Clemmens served the 2001 campaign as the volunteer assistant coach. Clemmens brings not only a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the USF staff but also a passion for recruiting and developing quality student-athletes.

Clemmens' duties include coordinating the recruiting efforts of USF baseball, scouting and team travel. In addition, Clemmens will serve as pitching coach for the Dons. Last season as a volunteer, Clemmens assisted former pitching coach Chad Konishi, as the Dons staff posted the lowest team ERA (4.57) since 1975 when USF posted a 3.77 mark.

Clemmens was a highly-touted recruit out of Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, IL where he was selected to all-conference and all-area teams and also was named to the Chicago Sun-Times Top-100 Players List following his sophomore season. After transferring to Cherry Creek High School in Englewood, CO, Clemmens earned first team all-state honors as a senior.

Clemmens played a season at New Mexico Junior College before transferring to Trinidad State Junior College where he played for current USF head coach Nino Giarratano. Clemmens completed his collegiate playing career at Aurora University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in History in 1996.

Clemmens began his coaching career as the assistant varsity baseball coach at West Aurora (IL) High School in 1996 and took his first collegiate coaching job at Solano Community College for the 1999-2000 season.
