(Riverside, CA) - USF erupted for five runs in the fifth inning to take a slim 5-4 lead against Oregon State, but could not make it stand up, falling to the Beavers 9-6 in the final game of the 2002 RBI Invitational, hosted by UC Riverside. San Francisco (3-9) pitching struggled again, surrendering 18 Oregon State (5-9) hits.

Junior outfielder Nick Tarbat enjoyed a good day at the plate for the Dons, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while sophomore outfielder went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Freshmen Jimmy Milkovich, Royce Fukuroku and senior catcher Steve Booth each knocked in a run for San Francisco.

Junior right-hander Bryan Williams (0-1) suffered the loss for USF, allowing three runs off five runs in 3.0 innings of work. Dons's right-handed starter Josh Reidt was battered for four runs off nine hits in 3.1 innings. Reidt recorded three of USF's five strikeouts on the day.

USF returns to action when the travel to San Jose State for a Wednesday showdown against the Spartans. Game time is at 2:30 PM.
