Malibu, CA - After dropping two heartbreaking 7-6 decisions in games one and two of the series, USF was decisively beaten 11-0 by Pepperdine in the series finale.

Senior left-hander Kevin Beavers threw seven shutout innings and junior second baseman Simon Ferrer collected a career-high tying three hits to help lead Pepperdine to Sunday's victory.

After posting an 11-16 record through their first 27 games, the Waves have won 11 of their last 16 games and six of nine to climb over the .500 mark.

Pepperdine jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning as it sent seven batters to the plate. Freshman shortstop Patrick Rooney led off with a single and scored on a triple by junior right fielder Ed Montague. Ferrer followed with an RBI single and junior third baseman Duke Sardinha capped the rally with a two-out, run scoring single.

The Waves increased their lead to 6-0 in the third as they scored three more runs with the big hit of the inning being a two-run double by freshman center fielder Jason Durbin.

Meanwhile, Beavers (4-3) was in control throughout his seven innings of work as he limited the Dons to five hits and allowed just two base runners to reach third base.

Junior right hander James Carroll pitched the final two innings for the Waves and allowed one hit and a walk.

First baseman Nick Cirbo led San Francisco with two hits.

USF (10-34, 2-18 WCC) plays a non-league game at Nevada Tuesday before hosting St. Mary's Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
