USF Shutout at LMU 7-0 in WCC Series Finale
April 25, 2004
(Los Angeles) - USF baseball seized a marathon win in game two of their West Coast Conference series at Loyola Marymount. Sunday in the finale, sophomore right-hander Jeff Stevens (4-0) put on a pitching clinic tossing a complete game shutout helping the Lions to a 7-0 victory Sunday at Page Stadium. San Francisco (20-24, 8-10 WCC) managed seven base hits, but could not get on the scoreboard against LMU *25-18, 15-6 WCC).
Junior infielder Cy Donald led the way offensively for the Diamond Dons with two hits off the bench. Five other hitters recorded one base hit apiece for USF - none for extra bases.
San Francisco had opportunities with two on and one outs twice, but stranded two in the third and seventh innings and hit into an inning ending double play in the sixth inning.
Freshman right-handed starter Ryan Muller (4-2) suffered the loss and allowed four runs off eight hits in 3.0 innings.
San Francisco looks to get back on track Tuesday when they travel to Reno for a non-conference contest against the Nevada Wolf Pack. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM at Peccole Park.
