Box Score

(San Francisco) - USF defeated Loyola Marymount 25-21 to complete a suspended West Coast Conference game originally started March 24 at George Page Stadium. Senior right-handed pitcher Peter Dunkle shut the door on the Lions and struck out two batters in the bottom of the 10th frame in a game suspended due to darkness after 5:10 minutes of offensive fireworks. In the contest, freshman Royce Fukuroku tied a school record with a 6-for-7 day at the plate to go along with a homerun and seven RBI, while sophomore outfielder Joe Jacobitz went 5-for-6 with a homerun and six RBI. Nicholas Lovato (1-3) suffered the loss for the Lions and was the fourth pitcher used by LMU, while senior right-handed reliever Steve Moses (3-1) earned the win as the sixth Dons hurler.

Once game four of the WCC series began, Loyola Marymount's offense picked up right where it left off in the March 24th slugfest. The Lions scored three runs in the second and pounded eight runs in the third to cruise to a 13-4 WCC victory Friday at Benedetti Diamond. USF (17-37, 8-20 WCC) struggled on the mound and defensively in the early going as LMU (19-31, 12-13 WCC) took a 12-0 lead after just four innings.

San Francisco would rally for four runs in the bottom of the ninth to avoid the shutout. Freshman infielder Royce Fukuroku and sophomore outfielder Joe Jacobitz each collected a pair of hits for the Dons.

Dunkle (2-9) suffered the loss for the Dons, allowing 10 runs off nine hits in 2.1 innings. Junior right-hander reliever Kevin Annis came on in relief and pitched well, allowing one run off two hits and struck out a career-high six in 5.1 innings.

Vincent Cordova (8-3) earned the win for the Lions, allowing four runs off 10 hits and struck out eight in 8.2 innings. Carl Stoeber went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBI to lead the way for LMU, while Joe Frazee, Kris Zacuto and Josh Whitesell each collected a pair of hits. Tommy Perez and Zacuto homered for the Lions.

San Francisco hosts Loyola Marymount in game two on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM at Benedetti Diamond.
