Box Score

(Los Angeles) - San Francisco used a five-run fourth and a outstanding complete game pitching performance from senior right-hander Kevin Annis (6-3) to take a 6-2 West Coast Conference victory Sunday at George Page Stadium. With the win, the Diamond Dons (24-28, 17-13 WCC) win their third consecutive series and win the season set against the Lions (23-29, 10-17 WCC) 4-2.

Sophomore infielder Khamis Zananiri, made a big impact at the plate for USF after being inserted into the starting lineup after junior shortstop Armand Gaerlan was unable to play due to an injury suffered in infield drills. Zananiri responded with a 2-for-4 day and slammed a two-run double down the left field line in the fourth. Also collecting multiple base hits for USF were freshman outfielder Jonnie Knoble, going 2-for-4, as did freshman infielder Andrew Smith, who doubled. Junior catcher Ryan Hanson went 2-for-3. Senior outfielder Jason Howard went 1-for-5 but drove in three runs on a two-run single and an RBI groundout.

The big story for the Dons was Annis, who turned in the first complete game of his career, allowing two runs off four hits, while striking out six. Chris Pettit hit a two-run homerun to left to break up the shutout in the seventh inning. Annis three 96 pitches, 67 across for strikes.

USF travels across the Bay Bridge Tuesday to take on Cal. First pitch against the Golden Bears is set for 2:30 PM at Evans Field.
