Taggert Bozied breaks the USF Career Home Run Record

Despite a late change of plans and a quick bus trip up north to Davis, California, San Francisco still completed the task at hand and demolished the UC Davis Aggies 21-1 in a non-conference game Wednesday afternoon.

Junior infielder Taggert Bozied broke the USF career-record for home runs in the process, belting a 3-run shot off Julio Marquez as part of a five-run second inning. Bozied now has 37 home runs in his career on the Hilltop (one more than Arnie Sambel who played on the Hilltop from 1987-90), and has hit three this season.

Junior left-fielder Danny Trumble also put together a magnificent offensive performance going 4-for-5 on the afternoon with two doubles and two RBI.

San Francisco was already in control, 7-1, going into the top of the fifth inning, when they burst forth with a seven-run output. The Dons struck again in the top of the eighth with another seven-run outburst that put them ahead by the final score- a 21-1 victory. USF is now 7-5 on the season. UC Davis fell to 4-3.

The Dons are next scheduled to be in action in an exhibition game against Keio, Japan on Sunday, February 27 at Benedetti Diamond. First pitch is scheduled at noon.

Notes:
Due to the condition of the field at Benedetti Diamond, the game was moved earlier in the day Community Stadium... Tony Hurtado was hit by a pitch twice on the afternoon, further giving him the NCAA career lead... USF faced nine Aggies pitchers on the afternoon, not one of whom lasted more than an inning... Despite the 21 runs, USF left 12 runners on base...
