For the second consecutive game, USF's offense caught a spark from Gonzaga's bullpen as the Dons rallied for four runs in the sixth inning and tacked on two additional runs in the seventh and eighth to secure a 10-6 victory against the Bulldogs March 18 at Benedetti Diamond in West Coast Conference baseball. USF (12-10, 2-3 WCC) erupted for 15 hits and capitalized on four Gonzaga (7-11, 2-3 WCC) errors, including three in the Dons' two-run first inning.

USF got a quality extended relief appearance from sophomore right-hander Chris Gossert who succeeded starting southpaw Jeremy Kinney, who left after 4.2 innings, surrendering six runs (two earned), while scattering nine hits. In 4.1 innings of work, Gossert (3-0) did not allow a run and surrendered just two hits, recording four strikeouts for the Dons.

John Gonzalez (0-1) suffered the loss for the Bulldogs after allowing four runs on eight hits in 3.0 innings of work.

San Francisco got great 3-for-5 performances from senior third baseman Taggert Bozied and junior designated hitter Jesse Foppert. Bozied hit a solo homerun to deep left center in the first inning for his third of the season and added an RBI double in the fifth. Foppert crushed his third bomb of the season in a solo shot in the eighth inning. With the long balls, Bozied and Foppert have each homered in two of their last three games. Junior catcher Steve Booth continued his production for the Dons with a 1-for-4, 2 RBI afternoon, while freshman infielder Armand Gaerlan and senior infielder Jared Carvalho each collected two hits for USF.

Gonzaga led 6-2 entering the bottom of the fifth, but the Dons rallied for a pair of runs on Bozied's RBI double and a sacrifice fly from Booth to close the gap to 6-4. Freshman infielder Nick Cirbo kicked off the Dons' four-run seventh with a leadoff homerun to left center for his second blast of the season.

Senior left fielder Barry Matthews led the way at the plate for Gonzaga with a 3-for-4, double, RBI performance, while junior catcher Brian Munhall sent a three-run homerun into the left field cheap seats in the Bulldogs' four-run fifth.

USF hosts Gonzaga in the final game of the WCC three-game set Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM at Benedetti Diamond.
